Jelena Šesnić is an Associate Professor in the Department of English, University of Zagreb. Her research is focused on various aspects of American literature and culture ranging from the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries. A revised version of her PhD was brought out by Rodopi in 2007. Her following book, published in 2010, deals with the images of "dark" femininity in antebellum American literature. Currently, she is pursuing a book project that charts the history of Croatian American diaspora and its links with Croatia from the late nineteenth century until the present. In this context, a special emphasis is placed on investigating the cultural aspects of Cold War history in Croatia and the United States.
